In February/March 2010, Kaimu Productions together with a crew from
Beijing Rare Culture and Media Company headed out to East Africa to
film the final program in the Shanghai Television worldwide series
'China's World'. Based mainly in the capitals of Dar Es Salaam and
Addis Ababa, shooting focussed on China's involvement in Africa over
the last 60 years. The program looked at significant aid
contributions to Africa, including TAZARA railway, the Benjamin Mkapa
National Stadium and Chinese medical teams, as well as current
commercial operations, such as the activities of local Chinese
businessmen. High-profile interviews included the Chairperson of the
African Commission, Dr. Jean Ping, who himself has Chinese heritage,
and, filmed by a separate crew, former French Prime Minister, Mr. Jean-
Pierre Raffarin. All went well, despite some hiccups with customs at
the Julius Nyerere airport and Dar Es Salaam's crazy traffic.
