In December 2009, Kaimu Productions led an intrepid Shanghai
Television crew to the deserts of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan to
film a documentary on the defence and reconstruction of Afghanistan.
Based at Kandahar Air Field, the largest NATO base in the world and
the world's busiest single air strip, the crew followed the movements
of the 451st Air Expeditionary Wing Unit and newly established Afghan
Air Force. Filming for four days, the crew covered air drops, medical
evacuations, routine helicopter 'tail swaps' and also a number of
logistical, lifestyle aspects of military life in KAF, including
religious services, the canteen and regular tank traffic.
