Nine Network's Sixty Minutes crew returned to China in May 2009, this
time to film the story surrounding the loan of two pandas to Adelaide
Zoo, the first pandas to be moved to the southern hemisphere.
Accompanied by two experts from the Zoo, the crew visited Ya'an
Bifengxia Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the
Giant Panda and
the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding to learn more about the extra-ordinary work being done in
China to preserve the Giant Panda and to learn more about Wang Wang and Fu Ni, the two pandas about to be sent to Australia.
Filming included holding and petting a baby panda, getting up close
and personal to adult pandas, visiting the biggest panda sperm bank in
the world, and filming inside the 24 hour surveillance centre for
pregnant pandas.
