The BBC were in Shanghai in May 2005, filming a three part series on 'Alternative Medicines', one episode of which focused on acupuncture. For this they called upon Kim Taylor's expertise in traditional Chinese medicine and she acted as their production manager for all their China-based shooting requirements.
The various shoots organised were: filming a number of well-known Chinese medical doctors practising acupuncture in their respective clinics across Shanghai, filming rare medical artefacts from the collection at the Shanghai Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, filming a Qigong master who could visibly manipulate his patients just by 'shooting Qi', filming scientific innovations in interpreting the physiological effects of acupuncture, as well as filming various landscape scenes of Shanghai and neighbouring Hangzhou. |
